Lead Clearance

Lead Clearance Inspection

Following removal of hazardous lead containing materials such as paint or dust, a Lead Clearance Inspection is required in order for work to resume in the area or residents to reoccupy the building. The clearance inspection is carried out by an Occupational Hygeinist to make sure that no hazardous lead containing materials remain within the subject area. EnviroX Consulting will carry out a clearance inspection of the area promptly upon completion of removal works and prior to reoccupation or normal work commencing to ensure that the removal work has been completed to a satisfactory standard in accordance with AS/NZS 4361.2:2017 Guide To Hazardous Paint Management Part 2: Lead Paint In Residential, Public And Commercial Buildings, and that no further health risk remains.

EnviroX Consulting recommends samples to be taken as part of the Lead Clearance Inspection, further ensuring the removal of hazardous lead materials has been completed to a satisfactory standard and that the health risk has been alleviated, with no hazardous lead containing materials remaining in the removal area. These samples can include soil samples or dust swabs of the removal area, and lead air monitoring. Lead Air Monitoring is required as part of lead dust removals during and following the removal due to the potentially airborne nature of the hazardous material, in line with AS 3640-2009 Workplace atmospheres – Method for sampling and gravimetric determination of inhalable dust.

All samples will be analysed by a NATA accredited laboratory and EnviroX Consulting will create a Lead Clearance Inspection Report providing results of samples, photos of the removal area and stating that lead removal works have been conducted to a satisfactory standard. EnviroX Consulting’s Lead Clearance Inspection Reports are delivered on a timely manner and in accordance with legislation to insure there are no delays in continued works or reoccupation of the area.
